How it went

Overall the shoot went very well. I didn't have anyone from my class to help me film and as I was in it, I directed my dad  and sister what to and how to film it. In the end he did quite well and got the shots I wanted although some of the shots could of been shot with better quality.  

Problems

When  filming the 'Badboy' scene I thought it would be better if we concentrated on the bad boy and not have any girls in the shoot as when I did this it was very hard to frame. It was also quite difficult finding the right location outside to get the shots focused on the character as we wanted him central of the shot. We also had a difficulty with the panning up shot as it didn't look very good as it was shaky. Also I wanted a shot of me driving off on my moped but it didn't work and needs to go to the garage. 

Organisation

When organising this shoot I decided that the 'batboy' needed to wear big boots with skinny plain jeans, a white t shirt and a leather jacket. (I have discussed the bad boys costume earlier on in my blog) This would connote the preferred reading to the audience about this character. I also used a roll of paper for a fake cigarette but set it on fire to get the smoke to make it look real. This also meant i had ashes i could flick off to make it look realistic.

This is a story board of the shots I did to help me organise and plan the scene. I did alter it a bit to fit with with the situation. 

SHOOT 1 -Outside Scenes, reflecting, planning

Shoot 1 Planning 

What we wanted
We wanted a range of panning shots across vast Moorland and picturesque 
natural scenery, which would end in a final shot of an isolated house meant to be 
belonging to the main protagonist female character. 
How it went
The shoot went very well due to the lovely weather. As the sky was a main

 focus point in the shoot it was essential that it be clear and free of

 rain. The sun breaking through the clouds added a more interesting

 angle to the shoot which I particularly liked. My mum and Dad drove me 

up to Denton Moor where I shoot as many landscapes as possible

Problems

There were limited problems. The only thing that took away from the 
scenery was anything man made for example wind farms in the 
distance which I had to try and avoid filming. Cars and bikes were 

another problem as well as litter, however there were very little of 
both of these so it was easy enough to miss and cut out of shot.

Organisation

Me and ben had previously taken some shots on Ilkley Moor so I knew 
exactly how i wanted to frame the shoots, containing mostly sky with 
the land coming 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of the shot. This

made the shoot a lot easier. I had also done a story board to plan with.
I had researched what the weather conditions would be like to plan 
the best day for the shoot as well as organising myself to be taken up in the

morning as I knew that would be the best time to get sky shots as the
 sun would be rising.

I  liked the way A history of Scotland's title shot was framed as the sky takes

Submarines Opening shots also feature a lot of the sky in the framing 

In ours I have also made the sky take up the majority of the frame

Planning

SHOOT 3: Planning, Reflection on shop scene

Problems

There were a couple of problems during the shoot for example the lighting

 was very dark but we solved this by moving a stage light around the shop 

to get better lighting. Also it got very dark outside which didn't help.

Organising

First of all we found the right outfit for Harry to wear. Because my dad own's the shop and it sells mens clothes so we were aloud to use them. Harry wore black jeans with brown pointy ankle boots. He also wore a turtle neck jumper with a red waistcoat, a grey tweed blazer and a red flower patterned scarf.  We then showed him the 'Ducky' character off Pretty in Pink as our idea for this scene comes from that film. We showed Harri the video of Duckie dancing around the shop (this video) and directed him to be eccentric and over the top with his moves. We then directed him doing the shots from our call sheet that we made. We also altered some of the shots to make them look better. We also moved some of the furniture around to make it easier to film and also make the mise-en-scene fit with our film.

How it went

Overall the shoot went really well and we got all of the shots

 that we needed. Harry took on the role really well and 

emphasised the character even more than we wished for.

 The mise-en-scene looked very good and we are pleased 

with all of the shots.

Call Sheet and how the shoot went

Problems
We had a few problems to begin with, our actors had forgotten to come with their costume so we had to go and find some uniform from school. This was easily solved once we found the right items for them to wear. We also had a problem with one of the tripods as one of the legs seemed to be broken and so when we were filming on it, it made the camera move. 

Organising the Mise-en-Scene
When we arrived at the classroom we had to move the tables and chairs around so that we had enough room and so that it looked how we wanted it to. Once our actors got here and they were in their costumes, we added certain details to them, we gave Harris a vest to put over to add to his quirkiness.
How it went
Overall the shoot went well, as stated above we had a few problems but nothing major. Both Molly and I were filming so we were able to get different angles and a range of shots that will help for the editing. As we were filming a classroom full of people it was difficult to direct them at first, but after we had explained what we wanted we were able to get on quickly and efficiently. 

What we wanted to show

• We asked half of the students to get out their books out and read or act like they were working and the other half to act rowdy and talk amongst themselves. This was too create a more realistic classroom scenario. Also too represent Hollie and Harri's personalities through them sitting with the sensible and hard working side connoting that they are smart and 'nerdy' which fits with their individual style. To contrast this Brad sat with the rowdy side showing his 'badboy' personality and 'jock' persona anchored by him reading his book upside down. 
• Brad's act of throwing the ball of paper at Harri was to anchor the love triangle and that his love affection is directed at Harri. 
• To show Harri's affection for Hollie we asked him to look directly at her longingly to clearly show this.
• To denote Harri's and Hollies quirky personalities we included in the mise-en-scene 2 very thick hard back books one of which is the 'History of the Times' as well as Harri's 80's style tank top and Hollie's scrunch in her hair. 

Story board

This our original story board which we used for our classroom shoot, we had to draw it our selfs as we didn't have access to a printed more professional story board however this one worked just as well and helped us to create the scene that we envisioned.
